Hiring a professional for any task can be a stressful and scary process, but I hope by the end of this article you will feel more confident in taking that leap to reach out for help. If you’re a solopreneur or small business, then it’s probably safe to assume that time is your most valuable asset. It is also safe to assume you don’t have the budget to waste, yet you still want (and need!) a professional-looking website.
Here are 5 reasons you need to hire a professional web designer:
1. It will save you time and money.
The old saying “time is money” rings true to this statement. Wasting time on tasks you’re not an expert in will not only waste your time, but a lot of money. With the many hours you spend on your website, you could be focusing on the things that really matter — like getting more clients and growing your business.
2. A designer is a specialist.
The most important part of being a designer is having the ability to diagnose a client’s problem. The same way we have doctors who are specialists, web designers are also trained in specific areas in order to come up with solutions. Many people are not even aware of the problem that is holding them back, but it can be extremely obvious and even an easy fix for a pro.
3. User friendly = more sales.
It’s true. The easier your website is to use, the better chance you have at converting a site visitor into a paying customer. Making sure your website loads fast is paramount, but your site also needs to look the part on each device whether it be a tablet, phone or desktop. 4. SEO.
Search Engine Optimization (aka SEO) is one of my personal passions when working with clients on their sites. I should mention however, that not every web designer specializes in or has a strong working knowledge of SEO. If you care about SEO (and you should!), hiring a professional who is well versed in SEO is just as important as them being a good designer. Being able to rank organically will save you money and get you in front of the eyes of people who are already interested in what you have to offer.
5. You want to look professional.
While your nephew may be great with photography and your neighbor may have dabbled in coding, it doesn’t mean your website is up to modern web standards and design trends. A professional looking website should look as good as it works. Ultimately, your website should be your best salesperson, making sure you have the best chance of converting users into customers, even while you’re asleep.
